EPA Endangerment Finding

EPA Endangerment Finding

By Ken Haapala, President, Science and Environmental Policy Project (SEPP) Quote of the Week: “By honest I don’t mean that you only tell what’s true. But you make clear the entire situation. You make clear all the information that is required for somebody else who is intelligent to make up their mind.” – Richard Feynman EPA Endangerment Finding: Attorneys for various organizations have petitioned the EPA to overturn its “Endangerment Finding” (2009 Endangerment and Cause or Contribute Findings for Greenhouse Gases under Section 202(a) of the Clean Air Act), according to which carbon dioxide (CO2) is regarded as a danger …

Could Recent U.S. Warming Trends be Largely Spurious?

Could Recent U.S. Warming Trends be Largely Spurious?

January 29th, 2021 by Roy W. Spencer, Ph. D. Several lines of evidence suggest observed warming trends are not nearly as large as what you have been told. It’s been almost eight years since I posted results on my analysis of the global Integrated Surface Database (ISD) temperature data. Despite finding evidence that urbanization effects on temperature measurements have not been removed from official land temperature datasets, I still refer people to the official products (e.g. from NOAA GHCN, HadCRUT, etc.). This is because I never published any results from my analysis. But I’ve started thinking again about the question, …

GEOLOGICAL CARBON FLOWS PART-2

GEOLOGICAL CARBON FLOWS PART-2

Tambonthangchai Posted by: chaamjamal on: January 20, 2021 THIS POST IS A PRESENTATION OF SOURCES OF CARBON TRANSFERS FROM THE MANTLE TO THE SURFACE BY WAY OF SEEPAGE, HYDROTHERMAL VENTS, HYDROTHERMAL PLUMES, SUBMARINE VOLCANISM, AND ASSOCATED GEOLOGICAL ACTIVITY. THE CONTEXT OF THIS STUDY IS ANTHROPOGENIC GLOBAL WARMING (AGW) WHERE FOSSIL FUEL EMISSIONS ARE ASSUMED TO BE THE SOLE SOURCE OF CARBON EXTERNAL TO THE CARBON CYCLE. THE ANALYSIS IS PRESENTED IN TWO PARTS. PART-1 IS A SUMMARY AND INTERPRETATION OF THE DATA PRESENTED IN PART-2 IN THE CONTEXT OF AGW CLIMATE CHANGE: PART-2 IS A LITERATURE REVIEW ON THE SUBJECT …

Advice : the Viscount Monckton of Brenchley

SUMMARY I am asked to consider whether The Viscount Monckton of Brenchley was correct when, in a recent radio interview in Australia, he answered the question “Are you a member of the House of Lords?” by saying, “Yes, but without the right to sit or vote.” My conclusion is that Lord Monckton’s answer was and is correct at all points. We have the authority of two Law Lords in the Privileges Committee that the meaning of the words “membership of the House” in the Act is confined to the right to sit and vote. The implication is that in all …

This burp-catching mask for cows could slow down climate change

Wired 1 January 2021 Methane from cattle accounts for a significant amount of global warming – startup Zelp has a comfortable and stylish solution There are 1.6 billion cattle on Earth, and their burps and farts are becoming a big problem. Cows expel methane, a colourless and odourless gas which is approximately 84 times more potent than carbon dioxide when it comes to warming the planet. As a result, according to a recent report by the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, the combined greenhouse gas emissions of America’s 13 largest dairy companies are equivalent to those of some major …

Chemists describe a new form of ice

Chemists describe a new form of ice

Eureka Alert 22-Dec-2020 Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) Scientists from the United States, China, and Russia have described the structure and properties of a novel hydrogen clathrate hydrate that forms at room temperature and relatively low pressure. Hydrogen hydrates are a potential solution for hydrogen storage and transportation, the most environmentally friendly fuel. The research was published in the journal Physical Review Letters. Ice is a highly complex substance with multiple polymorphic modifications that keep growing in number as scientists make discoveries. The physical properties of ice vary greatly, too: for example, hydrogen bonds become symmetric at high …

How Busy Was the 2020 Hurricane Season?

How Busy Was the 2020 Hurricane Season?

By Neil L. Frank | December 11, 2020 The 2020 Atlantic hurricane season, with 30 named storms, is going down in the record books as having the most named storms of any season on record. But are we comparing apples and apples—or apples and oranges? Some people blame the recent increase in named storms—tropical storms and hurricanes—on global warming, and infer that we must stop spewing CO2 into the atmosphere to curb the warming and so prevent the increase in storms and the damage they cause. But the raw data for hurricane history is contaminated by changes in observing tools, …
